At Jade Dental, our Hygiene Program is more than just a cleaning. We will spend the time with you so that we can deliver the best possible care.
Medical History Review
Reviewing your medical history is important. Changes to medications, such as Blood Pressure Medication, or medical conditions, such as Type II Diabetes, can have a significant impact on your oral health. By taking the time to understand your personal health, will allow us to better serve you.
Extra Oral and Intra Oral Examination
During your hygiene appointment, our Hygienist will perform an examination of your soft and hard tissues, to determine health status. If anything is striking or obvious our hygienist will arrange the Dentist to come and take a look. Otherwise if health and stability are maintained, the hygiene appointment will proceed.
Scaling and Polish
Scaling is the cleaning part of the appointment. Our Hygienist will use a Cavitron or Hand Instruments to physically remove plaque, bacteria and tarter (hardened calcified plaque). Once the teeth are cleaned, any remaining food related stain will be removed with polishing.
Periodontal Probing
Gum and Bone Health is determined by measurement. During your hygiene program, our Hygienist will periodically measure the space between gums and the teeth to help determine their health. During gum disease, inflammation and bacteria will cause bone destruction, which can eventually lead to the loss of teeth.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
Brushing and Flossing may seem intuitive however there are key techniques and products that can help you achieve better results. Our Hygienist will take the time to ensure that you are well equipped at home to keep your teeth clean and healthy. Education is at the forefront of what we do.
Annual Check Up
During the course of your hygiene program, our Dentist will typically come in and assess everything from top to bottom, to ensure stability, balance, and harmony. Our Dentist will go over relevant findings, assess X-Rays, and make any recommendations as needed.
Whitening
Our Hygienist leads the Whitening Program, and will present various options to help you achieve a whiter more radiant smile. Whether this is done in office with our state-of-the-art equipment, or at home with custom whitening trays, our Hygienist will find a solution for you, to help you reach your smile goals.
